If you are looking to perform Olympic lifts, or would like to improve your squatting technique then one of the first things you should buy is a decent set of Weightlifting shoes. The Adipower shoes are probably one of the best shoes out there for weightlifting. They are very supportive, and ideally should be nice and tight when you put them on. The shoes grip the floor well, so there is no chance of sliding – something that you definitely want to avoid whilst squatting 140kg! The elevated heel will really help improve your depth, but only with front squats or high-bar squats. If you tend to squat low-bar (with the bar resting over your traps rather than on your shoulders) use flat shoes instead. You really don’t want to overuse these shoes, and they really are only good for squats and Olympic lifts ... But they are fantastic at what they do, and any serious squatter should get themselves a pair today.
