There are many books out there for the first time gym goer, and I've read lots of them. At first I found them useful, but the more I learned about fitness the less useful I found them. That changed with "Strength Training Anatomy". The book may be a little old now, but the exercises described and the detailed anatomical drawings are as relevant today as they ever were. No other book really compares, each exercise is illustrated with all the relevant muscles detailed. Giving you a clear idea of what muscles are primary during a bicep curl, and where those muscles are situated. You might not know what a Brachioradialis is, but with this book you'll see where it is located, what exercises require it, and how it contracts. This book is excellent for beginners and more experienced users, and is a must-have item for fitness professionals.
