Stretch marks are irregular markings on your skin that look like bands, stripes, or lines. Wide fluctuations in weight over a short period of time can cause both women and men to get stretch marks.

How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks If You Already Have Them?
For treating stretch marks, it's best to be in the care of a surgeon or dermatologist. He or she can determine which treatment approach is best for you. Here are a few home remedies to reduce stretch marks:

1. Rub potato juice

- Potato juice contains vitamins and minerals that foster growth and restoration of skin cells. 
- Cut a medium-sized potato into thick slices.
- Take one of the potato pieces and rub it gently on the stretch marks for a few minutes. 
- Make sure the liquid from the potato covers the affected area.
- Allow the potato juice to dry for some time and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

2. Apply Vitamin E + Aloe Vera + Vitamin A

- Vitamin E, aloe vera and vitamin A are highly nourishing to skin. With regular use, it can fortify skin against stretch marks.
- Make a mixture with one-fourth cup of aloe vera gel, oil from 10 vitamin E capsules and oil from 5 vitamin A capsules. 
- Distribute the contents onto your skin. 
- Rub this mixture onto the skin until fully absorbed. 
- Repeat this process daily. 

3. Massage with Castor Oil

- Castor oil, which is used in the treatment of a number of skin problems such as wrinkles, age spots, moles, dark spots, fine lines and pimples, can also be used to quickly get rid of stretch marks.
- Apply some castor oil to the stretch marks and gently massage the area in circular motions for at least 15 minutes.
- Wrap the area with a thin, cotton cloth. 
- Using a hot water bottle or a heating pad, apply some heat to the affected area for at least a half an hour.

How to Prevent Stretch Marks When Losing Weight?
Here’s what you should do to lose weight without getting stretch marks.

1. Lose weight gradually

- Avoid rapid weight gain and weight loss.
- Avoid fad diets that cause your weight to quickly go up and down.
- You should lose weight slowly by eating a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise. 
- You should not lose more than 1kg. per week.

2. Do not keep yourself nutritionally starved

- Proper nutrition is essential to solid skin health. 
- Include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and protein rich foods in your diet.
- Few protein rich food options are meat, fish, chicken, eggs, lean beef, lamb, turkey, whey protein, milk, cheese, paneer, tofu, curd, yogurt, lentils (Indian dal), spinach (palak), chickpeas (channa), kidney beans (rajma), sprouts, mung, broccoli, soybeans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, figs, almonds and walnuts. 
- They nourish the skin to avoid breaking the fibers of the same.

3. Keep your skin moisturized

- Buy one of the oils or creams marketed especially for stretch mark prevention where the formulas are designed to encourage increased collagen production and support the dermis.
- Apply it after taking shower.

How Much Time It Will Take To Get Rid Of Them?
It can take months or even years for stretch marks to fade. Some stretch marks may even disappear completely with time.
